
The Ministry of Public Administration today issued a notification announcing that government offices will remain open on Saturday, May 23, ahead of the upcoming Eid‑ul‑Azha holidays.
The Cabinet had earlier decided on a seven‑day general holiday from May 25 to May 31 for Eid.

According to today’s notification, all government, semi‑government, autonomous, semi‑autonomous, and private offices will remain closed during that period.
Offices, however, will remain open on Saturday and Sunday (May 24) to ensure continuity of services before the extended holiday.

During the Eid holidays, emergency services including electricity, water, gas, fuel supply, fire service, port activities, cleaning, telephone, internet, and postal services, will remain exempt from closure. Hospitals, emergency medical staff, and vehicles carrying medicines or medical equipment will also continue operations.
The notification further stated that Bangladesh Bank will issue necessary instructions to keep banking activities operational, while the Supreme Court will provide directives regarding court proceedings.
